Restorative yoga is often referred to as the “art of relaxation” .
This type of yoga practice aims to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the body’s rest and digest response.
Restorative yoga promotes deep relaxation, reduces stress, and supports the body’s natural healing processes.
Poses are held for several minutes helping you to go deeper into the practice and allowing the body to fully surrender and release tension.
Using yoga props, such as blankets, bolsters, and blocks, assists in maintaining a supportive and restful position enable the student to relax.
Hence, students can find a sense of ease and calmness in each pose reliveing stress and anxiety.
Quietening the Nervous System:
Restorative Yoga is a practice that can help to nourish the nervous system by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the “rest and digest” response in the body. When the body is in a state of stress, the sympathetic nervous system is activated, which causes the release of cortisol and other stress hormones.
